Eligibility ...

Membership shall be granted to all those who have been employed in the San Diego region as an independent contractor and/or as field staff for a San Diego destination management company for a period of forty-five (45) days within the current year. 

Written proof of employment is required or letters of recommendation by two (2) SDPTGA Certified Tour Guide members in good standing.

Honorary, Business and Friend of the Association membership classifications are exempt from the proof of employment or letters of recommendation requirement.

Membership classifications:

    Certified Tour Guide ... has passed all parts and sections of the SDPTGA Certification Examination which covers Airport Meet & Greets, Shuttles, Dispatching, Registration and Hospitality desks, Dine-Arounds, Guiding Basics and tour information pertaining to San Diego city, county, Coronado, La Jolla, historical facts and attractions.

    Qualified ... has passed Part I - Sections 1 - 3 of the SDPTGA Certification Examination pertaining to Airport Meet & Greets, Shuttles, Dispatching, Registration and Hospitality desks, Dine-around and Guiding Basics.   

    Applicant ... has yet to take any part of the SDPTGA Certification Examination.  

    Honorary ... is any individual retired from the industry yet desires to maintain contact with association members. 

    Business Member ...  is any individual, business or corporation that supports the goals of the SDPTGA for the purpose of receiving a membership roster.

    Friend of the Association ...  is any individual, business or corporation that supports the goals of the SDPTGA.

    Applications will be verified and approved by the Membership Secretary who then advises as to where dues, application and proof of employment or letters of recommendation are to be mailed.
